Genesis 49:29-33; 50:15-26. Turn to the Lord in your need and you will live – Ps 104(105):1-4, 6-7. Matthew 10:24-38.
Not one sparrow falls from the sky without God’s knowing
Knowing this, we can rest peacefully in the assurance that God is watching over all that takes place in our lives. Living in relationship with this loving God is not always a smooth path. As Jesus tells us, those who follow are called to pick up their cross. Jesus picked up his cross and carried the salvation of all creation on his shoulders as he became the living embodiment of God’s loving forgiveness.
Similarly, Joseph’s brothers sold him as a slave, left him for dead, lied to their father about his whereabouts – and yet when they came to him to seek forgiveness, he responded in a way that embodied the love of God here on earth. If God forgives us and calls us to pick up our cross, who are we not to do the same for others?
