Genesis 3:9-24. In every age, O Lord, you have been our refuge – Psalm 89(90):2-6, 12-13. Mark 8:1-10.
‘In every age, O Lord, you have been our refuge’
A certainty of life is that things change. There may be long periods of time where we think ‘this is it. This is our lives for ever’, but we know in our hearts that the times, good or bad, cannot last. Perhaps life is grey and mundane, and we are unsure if there will ever be wonder again. Perhaps, things are going well and we’re content to stay in our bubble until we are touched by sorrows. Or perhaps, we are in despair as our lives seem to be an unrelenting struggle, and then suddenly there is joy.
It’s still early in 2021 and who knows what this year will bring as we struggle to move from Before-Covid time to Covid-normal. Perhaps we cry as in the psalm ‘Lord, relent! Is your anger for ever? Show pity to your servants’. But we also know from the psalm that ‘In every age, O Lord’, you have been our refuge.Email this Print This Page
