About Today Readings

Saints Cyril and Methodius

1 Kings 12:26-32, 13:33-34. Lord, remember us, for the love you bear your people – Ps 105(106):6-7, 19-22. Mark 8:1-10.

Keep moving

Today’s reading is a favourite for many people even though scholars disagree on the message. Debate rages as to whether this was a literal event or a metaphor for the endless love of God. I say, who cares? What it tells us is that God provides in abundance and that we can do the same. It could also tell us that even through a small amount of faith we can offer so much to others because Jesus walks with us. Or it might encourage you to encounter others and not worry about how you might help them because your presence is what heals. No matter what you make of it, the final point is vital – keep moving forward. You were not made to be sedentary.
