Walking with the marginalised
Jesus emptied himself, took on the nature of a servant and became like us, experiencing the human condition. He didn’t seek any special privileges or advantages, and lived out his life with those who were excluded from privilege, those who were marginalised, poor and oppressed. And it was into this broken space that Jesus brought the good news of salvation and liberation. Where are the broken spaces in our own communities? Where can we speak the Good News? The answer is not from a place of privilege or status but from a place of walking with those who are marginalised today, those who are experiencing poverty, injustice, racism, violence. It’s uncomfortable to be in a position of inequality rather than of privilege, but may we always notice and seek out those who are marginalised and stand with them, just as Jesus did.
