About Today Readings

Easter Saturday

Acts 4:13-21. I praise you, Lord, for you have answered me – Psalm 117(118):1, 14-21. Mark 16:9-15.

We cannot promise to stop proclaiming what we have seen and heard

Chronologically, today’s readings are inversed. In Mark’s Gospel it takes a long time, numerous sightings and some forthright reproaches before the Apostles believe Jesus has returned to them. However, once they believe they cannot be persuaded to keep quiet about it (First Reading). The Apostles have taken on Jesus’ exhortation in the Gospel to ‘Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News to all creation’ with gusto, and no orders from the authorities banning such preaching are going to stop them.

Let us be inspired by their determination to be witnesses in our daily lives to the Good News.
