Profound simplicity of faith
A short but most profound Gospel with only three verses. Jesus made time for the children. They were important to him. We are reminded of the profound simplicity of faith. Maybe Jesus is highlighting to us the importance of knowing we are loved, no matter what. Just like the child’s deep desire for being loved and dependent on their parents, the children are models for us. Is this Gospel asking us to spend some time looking at our relationship with God and our trust in God? Our dependence can grow deeper when we open ourselves to really letting our hearts be cleansed, to holding onto a steadfast spirit that God puts within us. So that, in the words of Ezekiel, the following may resound: ‘Shake off all the sins you have committed against me, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit!’ Help us to surrender our burdens and insecurities, allowing God to create within us a new heart, one filled with unwavering faith and hope.
