We are all important to God
Everybody wants to know where they came from. That’s why there is such an interest in family history. There are popular programs on TV where guests discover surprising ancestors. People felt the same way about Jesus. The New Testament begins with a long list of names and readers often skip past these to get to the real story. But let’s not forget that there are dozens of real stories here as well. For example, we learn that the father of Joseph was called Jacob. We’d love to know a little more about him, about how his son became such a risk taker for God. Joseph’s grandfather was Matthan. Once again, we only have our imaginations to create his story. Of course, the genealogy includes big names such as Abraham, Isaac and King David. The people no-one hears much about are just as important in God’s plan. That probably means you and me as well.
