About Today Readings

2 Chronicles 24:17-25. For ever I will keep my love for him – Psalm 88(89):4-5, 29-34. Matthew 6:24-34.

Your holy Father knows your needs

Forever I will keep my steadfast love, and my covenant will stand firm. I will not remove my steadfast love or be false to my faithfulness; I will not violate my covenant. What a promise God makes to us. And what a promise to build our lives on, knowing we are forever held by God and God’s love for us, and that nothing will remove that love. But how easy it can be to doubt, or forget, or distrust that promise – particularly with current events: COVID, devastating floods, invasion and war. Yet, even in these events, God’s love is there to be found – in the nurses and doctors who work extra-long hours to provide care to their patients, in those researching diseases and cures, in those who risk their own lives to rescue others, in those who have opened their homes to refugees fleeing war. God’s love can be seen in all those acts, in the open hearts of those who have heard the cries for help and have responded. God’s love is still with us.
