About Today Readings

St Luke

2 Timothy 4:10-17. Your friends tell the glory of your kingship, Lord – Ps 144(145):10-13, 17-18. Luke 10:1-9.

Focus on peace, healing and reconciliation

Today is the Feast of St Luke, one of the four great evangelists. In the reading taken from the Gospel of Luke we hear a recognition of the vastness of the mission field. With an urgency to sharing the Gospel and relying on God’s providence. And remembering the words of Pope Leo XIV, ‘peace be with you’, there is a focus on proclaiming peace, healing and reconciliation.

Even though this Gospel was written nearly two thousand years ago, the message remains clear: the interdependence of community and sharing the mission, which requires an inclusive and welcoming approach. In the smiling, welcoming presence that you are today – may we continue to share peace in our world.
