We take up the mission of the Church

We are in the last throes of preparations to celebrate the Ascension and Pentecost, and in so doing to culminate the Easter Season and return to ‘Ordinary time’. In this period our minds can begin to turn to the rest of the year. Outside of the heightened times we have observed, we return to the basic tasks of the Christian life – to love God and neighbour, to grow in holiness and to proclaim the Good News. With Jesus ascended, and with the aid of the Holy Spirit, we take up the mission of the Church. How do I proclaim him as king of all the earth? Is he tangibly the Lord of my life? Do I know the Scriptures, encourage, welcome and form others, preach eagerly and energetically, speak accurately of Jesus and refute falsehood? How might I do so more fully this year?
