Freedom to follow God’s path

I once knew a woman whose youngest daughter, at 16, chose to enter a skateboard competition overseas. This was not something the mother had anticipated for her, and she did not think it was a sensible career move. But she let the teenager do it. And the girl proved herself a successful skateboarder for many years. I admired this woman’s trust in her daughter to choose what was life-giving, even if it seemed crazy. Jesus was thought to be crazy by others, even in his family. He did not live out the family expectations but carved for himself (with God) his own life path. How free have you been to take such a life-giving path for yourself?
