Abraham hoped and believed

Abraham was called to trust that God would give him many descendants, even though he was old and childness. Christians are called to hope and trust in God’s promise of a world of healing, justice and peace. We humans are limited in our vision both of the world and of God. We cannot grasp the big picture and see into the future. Like a blind person being guided by another, we have to keep hold of Jesus and take one step (one day) at a time. God fulfilled his promise to Abraham, who is now the ‘father’ of all Jews and of all Christians. If we doubt God’s promises for us, perhaps we can speak the words of the man who cried out, ‘I do believe, help my unbelief!’
