About Today Readings

St Padre Pio of Pietrelcina

1 Timothy 6:13-16. Come with joy into the presence of the Lord – Psalm 99(100). Luke 8:4-15.

Listen everyone who has ears to hear

Severus: Thanks for your explanation, Jesus. But why confuse people with your stories of sowing seeds? Just tell them what they must believe.

Jesus: God didn’t send me just to tell people what to believe, Severus. I came to win their hearts to God, to change their lives. That’s why I tell stories about God and where to find God.

Severus: Why not just give people a map they can follow, then? Stories will just distract them. They’ll lose their way.

Jesus: You forget the Spirit will walk with them, Severus. Stories make you ask what they mean. Then the Spirit points to things in your life you might otherwise miss. The Spirit makes you want the wheat to grow. You ask where thorns and crows are found in your life. Why not listen to the story again, and let my Spirit do the work.

Severus: I might just do that, Jesus.
