Let them both grow until the harvest

The question arises out of today’s Gospel reading: Am I a weed or am I wheat?

Of course, few people would think of themselves as weeds. Yet all of us have the potential to stunt the growth of people around us by being negative towards them, putting them down or being barriers to their flourishing. All of us, too, have the potential to be wheat, to grow into someone who gives life to others, and has a home with God awaiting them.

We might have both seeds within us, but we can help one of those seeds flourish by the way we relate to those around us. Let’s reflect today on how we can be givers of life in the field of God.
