James 5:13-20. Let my prayer come like incense before you – Psalm 140(141):1-3, 8. Mark 10:13-16.
Let the children come to me
Because our faith is for adults
we shooed the kids away,
but Jesus said to let them come:
the Gospel is for them.
The Gospel’s like a ladybird:
that only young eyes see,
that childlike hearts can wonder at,
and tiny hands can grasp.
Unless like Alice you grow small
and hug my Father’s Word,
and cling to it with all your heart
you cannot follow me.
Give us an open, simple heart.
Just like your own, dear Lord,
to find you in the smallest things
and love you tenderly.
