About Today Readings

St Catherine of Siena

Acts 9:31-42. What return can I make to the Lord for all that he gives to me? – Psalm 115(116):12-17. John 6:60-69.

My home is in you

‘Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.’ (John 6:69)

On her feast day, let us remember the life of Catherine of Siena, a Doctor of the Church, whose work instructs us that with God we have everything. As the Gospel reading for today reminds us, what do we have without you, Jesus? There is no home for us in secularism or materialism. If we know the holiness and joy of God, the world’s comforts are empty and meaningless. As the Apostle Simon Peter says, ‘Master, to whom shall we go?’

Lord, may I always serve You like Saint Catherine of Siena. May I realise outside of you, there is nothing for me. My home is in you.
