About Today Readings

Holy Saturday (Easter Vigil)

Romans 6:3-11. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia – Psalm 117(118):1-2, 16-17, 22-23. Mark 16:1-7.

The beauty of the resurrection is that reminds us that rebirth is possible. No one is beyond salvation. No matter how many times we fall down and are not our best selves, we can get up and try again. Jesus had doubts, he had fears, he wanted the hard times to be over and so we can forgive ourselves when we too have had enough. The challenge for each and every Christian is to understand that sometimes we will not be the person that our God believes we can be, but not to let that stop us from always trying. To treat ourselves with love and compassion but to pair that with expectation that next time we will be more.
