About Today Readings

St Francis Xavier

Isaiah 30:19-21, 23-26. Happy are all who long for the coming of the Lord – Psalm 146(147):1-6. Matthew 9:35 – 10:1, 6-8.

What is the path God is leading you on?

Today’s readings make me reflect on what it means to have full trust in God. In the reading from Isaiah, we hear that God’s voice will speak to those who dwell in God’s kingdom, such that they will hear a voice speak to them if they ever risk straying off the right path – ‘This is the way; walk in it.’

St Francis Xavier, whose feast it is today, was someone who trusted the path set before him by God. It took him far away from the life he first knew, but gave him a mission of baptising and teaching that has left a lasting legacy. As with the disciples in today’s Gospel, he trusted in the path God set for him, and was rewarded with abundant life.

What is the path God is leading you on? Can you hear God’s voice showing you the way to walk?
