St Thomas
Ephesians 2:19-22. Go out to all the world and tell the Good News – Ps 116(117). John 20:24-29.
Unless I see and touch, I refuse to believe
St Thomas was, of course, unreasonable and obstinate but, deep down, he loved the Lord very much. At least he stayed with the other apostles who, no doubt, prayed for him although he must have seemed a wet blanket on their joy in Jesus’ resurrection.
Our Lord made a special appearance for his sake and Thomas made his great act of faith – ’My Lord and My God.’ Soon enough, he went off to ‘tell the good news’ and to lay down his life.
How do we deal with people who have difficulties with faith? Are we as patient as the apostles and Our Lord? Do we pray for them? Do we thank God for the gift of our faith? My Lord and My God.
