The Lord is kind and merciful—Psalm 102(103):1-4, 9-12.

The love of the father yearns for the presence of his son.

When the younger son is distant and lost, life seems at its very worst. At that moment he comes to his senses. He realises that the path he has travelled has led to misery and despair. Dying of hunger he needs the help of his father just to survive. So he sets off for home.

Home is a place he believes will give him a roof over his head and a meal for his keep, but he does not expect forgiveness. Little does he know that his father has been grieving his absence and yearning for his return.

On catching sight of his form in the distance, the father drops everything to run. A feast will soon begin. Nothing will stop the love of the father for his sons.
