About Today Readings

Holy Saturday (Easter Vigil). Romans 6:3-11. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia – Psalm 117(118):1-2, 16-17, 22-23. Mark 16:1-7

May we always rejoice in the Resurrection

‘He said to them, “Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Behold, the place where they laid him.”’ (Mark 16:7)

In today’s Gospel, we read the story of the women encountering the angel at Jesus’ tomb. When meditating on this story, we can hear the women problem-solving on their way to the tomb. How will we move the stone? They have no clue of the miracle they are about to encounter. In the next moment, they meet the angel. How could they not be amazed? They speak to an angel and hear the Good News! Jesus has risen!

Lord Jesus, may we always rejoice in your Resurrection and remember that your words were truly fulfilled. May we remember that you go before us. Wherever you go may we follow you.
