About Today Readings

St Isidore

Ezekiel 37:21-29. The Lord will guard us, like a shepherd guarding his flock – Jeremiah 31:10-13. John 11:45-56.

Jesus was to die to gather together the scattered children of God

By restoring life to Lazarus, Jesus brought incredible joy to his sisters but also incurred the jealousy and anger of the Pharisees. They recognised that Jesus had powers of healing and love that went beyond anything that they stood for. Their power and authority were set to be undermined and they determined to get rid of him. Their plan stemmed from fear.

Ignatius recognised that we live within a mesh of good and evil. It is essential to maintain an inner freedom, which can discern the fear-driven notions of our society. Let us pray for new wisdoms that will be life-giving this Easter.
