About Today Readings

Hebrews 13:15-17, 20-21. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want – Psalm 22(23). Mark 6:30-34.

Come and rest a while
We came back on a high with tales
of blind men cured, of demons foiled,
of hope filled eyes. He smiled and said,
‘Come rest up in a quiet place’.

We left, but people spied us,
arrived before us. So much for rest!
Then Jesus stayed to speak and heal,
his heart much larger than his head.

So if you want to follow him
be like a mother who spends all night,
without complaint with her sick child,
for that’s what God and lovers do.
