The Son of man is Lord of the Sabbath
A bright blue sky and golden corn
gently stirring in the breeze
and time for rest and gratitude –
this is the day the Lord has made,
so why not pick and chew the grains
that God has given us to touch,
to pick, to bite, and eat in thanks
for this excess of love and care?
‘God’s law forbids it on the sabbath’,
the dour men say. But did not God
create this lovely world for us
to eat and thank our Sabbath Lord?
