About Today Readings

1 John 5:14-21. The Lord takes delight in his people – Psalm 149:1-6, 9. John 3:22-30.

Confidence in our life with God

The theme of today’s readings is confidence in our life with God. How might your year proceed if you believed that whatever you asked of God, according to God’s will, you already had what you asked? Imagine if you truly knew that because you are baptised in Jesus name, he keeps you safe, and strengthens your understanding, and hears you when you cry out to him. We would be just like a happy child, utterly sure that we are loved and safe in a beautiful world. And we’d greet every day ‘singing for joy on our beds’? God knows what we need, and has already provided it. Like a beloved parent, he takes delight in us, and we in him.
