Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time | Sunday of the Word of God

Lord, give me courage
‘Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you [falsely] because of me.’ The Beatitudes remind us that God operates by a different set of rules. The rule book of the world is not the same as that of the Creator of the universe.
Isn’t this the Good News? That we do not have to be wealthy, educated, or of noble birth to belong to God’s kingdom. In truth, Jesus came to tell us it is the poorest, the weakest, and the least of society that are the greatest. It is our job to let go of all our vanities, accolades and attachments and become more like the least of society so that we can be more like God.
Lord Jesus, remind me to be courageous and let go of my attachments, so that I can truly live out the Beatitudes.
