Second Sunday of Lent
Genesis 12:1-4. Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you – Ps 32(33):4-5, 18-20, 22. 2 Timothy 1:8-10. Matthew 17:1-9.
So Abram went as the Lord told him
Emigrating – moving countries or even within countries – is not easy. Even if you look forward to a new and better life, there is most likely an unacknowledged loss of familiarity. To leave family, friendships, and the surety of your place in a known community is difficult. The Lord promised Abram much, but even so it must have taken immense courage to take those first steps to a new life.
Let us pray that we, like Abram, are able to do as the Lord commands.
