God knows our hearts

My grandfather once said, ‘the biggest hypocrites sit in the front row at Church’. He studiously sat in the middle. I sit there too, in a different Church in a different place. But I don’t think Grandpa really cared about where people sat at Church. He lived in a small town where everyone knew everyone else’s business. He knew the people who occupied the front row in his Church weren’t living up to Christian ideals. They were like the second son in the parable, saying the right things but not doing them. Just as no one was fooled by the display of piety in that country church, God also knows our hearts and has promised to reward those who make good choices. There’s nothing wrong with sitting in the front row at Church, it signals enthusiasm and engagement. It’s a lot easier to see and hear. What is important is that you follow Christ’s example when you leave.
