The Holy Spirit in our lives

Each of us knows what it is like to wait expectantly for the arrival of something in the mailbox. The waiting can be nerve-racking as we wonder how much will the speeding fine be, where my friends will send me a holiday postcard from, or will the results of my health scan be positive? New parents wonder what their baby will look like, in what ways it will change their lives and how they will respond to this new creation.

It would have been natural for Jesus to also wonder in his heart as he patiently followed God’s call in his life, and finally heard those words from his father in heaven, acknowledging that he was his Son, whom he loved and with whom he was well pleased.

The good news is that we don’t need to wait to receive this confirmation of God’s love and blessing of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
