The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power – Psalm 97(98):1-4

‘Jesus, Master, have pity on us!’

Place yourself in this scene. Imagine these ten lepers meeting with Jesus. They believe that he can heal them. Jesus knows what it’s like to be rejected. He knows how painfully isolating it is to be thrown out of your community, to be scorned and ignored even by your family. So imagine their ecstatic relief when they find themselves cured as they walk back to present themselves to the priests!

Jesus had rewarded their faith—why did they not thank him? Do we remember to thank Jesus when our prayer is answered? It was the Samaritan who returned to give thanks. He was the only one to recognise that something more than healing had happened to him. He had been transformed and, like Paul, who said God’s message can’t be chained up, his life would now reflect this new faith. God of healing and peace, rest in my heart today.
