About Today Readings

3rd Sunday of Easter

Acts 3:13-15, 17-19. Lord, let your face shine on us – Psalm 4:2, 4, 7, 9. 1 John 2:1-5. Luke 24:35-48.

The peace of Jesus’ accompaniment

Jesus stood among the disciples, and they were startled and terrified. Jesus offers them peace and lets them touch him. The disciples were filled with joy, yet they still disbelieved and wondered. Jesus eats in front of them and unpacks the scriptures with them. What a rollercoaster journey, with fear, joy and doubt at the heart of it. Which is a reflection of our own life journey as well – we experience fear and anxiety, we have moments of joy as well as moments of doubt and confusion. Let’s take the time to re-read the Gospel and enter into the disciples’ journey on the road and their interactions with Jesus, who slowly and gently reveals to them more and more of who he is as he walks with them. May we all experience the peace Jesus offers us as he accompanies us on our life’s journey towards resurrection.
