‘We do not live on bread alone’
How easy it is to forget the Lord our God in the day-to-day grind, and in the messy reality of our lives where we move exhaustedly from one thing to the next. And when we are wandering in the wilderness for so long, how do we remember God?
By God remembering for us, and reminding us of the ever-faithful presence of the Lord who walks with us always and feeds us with manna in our desert wanderings, when we find ourselves hungry and thirsty, for food and water, but also, hungry and thirsty for a sign that our existence is not in vain, hungry and thirsty for connection, to be known for who we are and still be loved. And God, who knows our heart’s deepest longings and wonderings, feeds us with manna and brings us through the desert wastelands safely in God’s hands.
