Acts 2:14, 22-33. Lord, you will show us the path of life – Ps 15(16):1-2, 5, 7-11. 1 Peter 1:17-21. Luke 24:13-35.
Help me today to stay with Jesus
I am often struck by the words in the Gospel today, ‘Something prevented them from recognising him’. I think if I had lived in the times of Jesus, nothing would have prevented me from recognising him. The two disciples were happily talking about all that had happened in Jerusalem. They knew that Jesus was the great prophet. That Jesus appeared to the women. And yet, something in themselves prevented them from recognising him. It’s often something in us that prevents us moving forward – prevents us from embracing the truth, from forgiving someone, from seeing the real experience. God, help me today to stay with Jesus – to open my eyes and recognise God in all, so that our hearts can burn within us as we journey on the road to you. To continue to spread the news that the Lord has risen.
