Our Lord Jesus Christ, Universal King. Daniel 7:13-14. The Lord is king; he is robed in majesty – Psalm 92(93):1-2, 5. Apocalypse 1:5-8. John 18:33-37.
It is you who say I am a King
Rex: Jesus, I’m glad you admitted you are a king. Our country is full of republicans. I know that you are king of the world and want the whole world to obey your law and to be Christian.
Jesus: Thank you, Rex. I did tell Pilate, though, that my kingdom was not of this world and that I didn’t want an army. My kingdom is a kingdom of love.
Rex: Yes, but you said it is a kingdom of truth to which you bore witness, Jesus. Only a Christian society can bear witness to your truth, Jesus.
Jesus: How might it do that, Rex? I witnessed to the truth that God so loved the world to send me to join it. My witness was to be tortured and killed and to gather followers who would follow my way of love. Is that the kind of king you have in mind, Rex?
