Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Isaiah 8:23 – 9:3. The Lord is my light and my salvation – Ps 26(27):1, 4, 13-14. 1 Corinthians 1:10-13, 17. Matthew 4:12-23.
They left their nets and followed Jesus
Jesus, you came to border lands
between Judaea and the coast
to preach Good News and cure the sick
and choose the helpers in your work.
Some you called as they were casting
their nets, and others mending theirs.
All left their boats, their fish, their work
and went with you from town to town.
Jesus, we are tied to nets that tangle
us as we try to follow you.
Make us free to leave our nets
and cast out in the deep with you.
