30th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jeremiah 31:7-9. The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy – Psalm 125(126). Hebrews 5:1-6. Mark 10:46-52.
Lord, I seek healing
In today’s Gospel, we read about blind Bartimaeus. Bartimaeus calls out to Jesus as he passes. He asks to be healed and then, when his sight is restored, he follows Jesus along the path.
I think I could learn a lot from the way Bartimaeus behaves. He is in a bad way. He is struggling. It would be easy for him to get wrapped up in himself and block everyone out. Instead, he listens for Jesus and calls out to him in need. When Jesus calls out to him, others around him offer help and he accepts their guidance. Then, when Jesus asks what it is that he needs, he is able to clearly articulate his request.
Lord, help me to bring my pain and blindness to you to be healed. May I not be too proud to ask for healing.
