About Today Readings

Ascension of the Lord. Week III Psalter.
Acts 1:1-11. Psalms 46(47):2-3, 6-9. Ephesians 1:17-23. Matthew 28:16-20.

God mounts his throne to shouts of joy: a blare of trumpets for the Lord — Psalms 46(47):2-3, 6-9.

‘And, remember, I am with you always; yes, to the end of time.’

We always notice how these words of Jesus enliven our faith, hope and love. They truly stir a deep sense of joy in our faith in God. We may recall similar words of Moses in Chapter 31 of Deuteronomy: ‘The Lord himself will lead you. He will be with you, he will not fail you or desert you. Have no fear, do not be disheartened by anything’.

The feast of the Ascension reminds us that we now carry on the work of Jesus—but not alone: with his help! Lord, help me in the circumstances of my life to show others the way to you.
