About Today Readings

13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Wisdom 1:13-15; 2:23-24. I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me – Psalm 29(30):2, 4-6, 11-13. 2 Corinthians 8:7, 9, 13-15. Mark 5:21-43.

Your faith has saved you

He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction’.

In our modern secular society, there are attempts to dismiss Jesus’ miracles as symbolic metaphors, or offer scientific explanations, or claim sleight of hand. But what if we suspend our suspicions and believe? What if we believe he brought back a deceased girl to life? What if we believe it was her faith that saved her? How would this change our faith, our schools, our parishes, and our religion? May we return to the faith of our ancestors and find the faith that moves mountains.

Lord Jesus, may my faith in you always remain fervent. May I never become a lukewarm soul. May I believe the slightest touch of your grace will heal all my ailments and give me the courage to continue on the road to you.
