Sunday 4 February 2024
5th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Job 7:1–4, 6–7. Praise the Lord who heals the broken-hearted – Psalm 146(147):1–6. 1 Corinthians 9:16–19, 22–23. Mark 1:29–39.
Jesus immediately left the Synagogue
How much you did in just one day!
You called apostles, crossed the lake
to wealthy Capernaum, then preached
within the synagogue, and went
to Peter’s house and cured his ma,
then cured some more, and climbed the hill
to pray. No rest from dawn to night.
You gave your life to preach God’s word.
We thank you for your urgency.
Do help us in our turn to weep
and laugh with all your friends,
and always seek each person’s good
