The Lord gave them bread from heaven—Psalm 777(78):3-4, 23-25, 54.

‘Look, I shall rain down bread for you from the heavens.’

Too many people wake each day desperate for food and water. Many more experience despair when crops fail, livestock starve or disease or war tear communities apart. Communities thrive, and children grow when wholesome, nutritious food is available.

As living creatures, we draw comfort and energy from food, which, once eaten becomes part of our body. So too do we draw energy and grow strong when we share in God’s food – the Bread of Life manifest in his Son, Jesus. The bread broken and shared becomes part of our very being. The food that our soul hungers for is the food that gives eternal sustenance.
