About Today Readings

Week II Psalter. 2nd Sunday Of Advent.
Baruch 5:1-9. Psalm 125(126). Philippians 1:4-6, 8-11. Luke 3:1-6.
The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy – Psalm 125(126).

‘All humankind will see the salvation of God.’

Paul’s words to the people in Philippi remind us how to live the Good News in the here and now. Let us pray for each other: for faith, to be filled with compassion, to overflow with love for one another, to seek out wisdom and Godly knowledge, and to live righteously for the praise and glory of God.

John the Baptist heralded the Good News, and pointed the people towards God. Paul constantly sought to keep the eyes of the early church fixed on God. We need people such as John and Paul to keep us focused on the things that truly matter – all of creation living in the love of God.
