Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God
Numbers 6:22-27. May God bless us in his mercy – Ps 66(67):2-3, 5, 6, 8. Galatians 4:4-7. Luke 2:16-21.
And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart
When I ponder the Gospel for today, I’m reminded of the Beatles song, ‘Let it be’. Although Paul McCartney wrote the song about his own mother coming to him in a dream, we see his meaning that things will become clear with time. What would it be like to live like Mary? Holding the wonders and troubles in her heart and pondering them there. Not fretting about them to this person and that person, but trusting completely in God, knowing he wants the highest good for all concerned. This verse reminds us all of Mary’s unwavering faith and how to act in times of trouble.
Father in heaven, may I ponder your works in my heart, knowing that all things will become clear in time.
