About Today Readings

1 John 4:19 – 5:4. Psalm 71(72):1-2, 14-15, 17. Luke 4:14-22.

Lord, every nation on earth will adore you – Psalm 71(72):1-2, 14-15, 17.

‘He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.’

It’s not easy to stand up in front of the people who know us best and make a bold statement.

Messages of liberation and freedom bring with them a sense of hope and purpose. The central message is that God loves us, God frees us through the gift of Jesus Christ, God brings renewal, life and freedom. In essence, in every action and movement and moment, God is love.

God invites us into love. God calls us to live loving lives. We are only asked to live what has been modelled for us from the very centre of God’s being.
