About Today Readings

St Benedict

Hosea 11:1-4, 8-9. Let us see your face, Lord, and we shall be saved – Psalm 79(80):2-3, 15-16. Matthew 10:7-15.

Trust and faith

The work of the Gospel is an effort of trust and faith. I have been taught by Sisters of Our Lady of Sion and inspired by them. Sr Bernadette, teacher, and my mum’s cousin Sr Helen, leader, are examples of living out the mission as described in today’s Gospel. Both lived and worked for a time in Palestine and Israel, working for the people, working for peace. We know that women have this capacity and can live with good humour and joy in the direst of circumstances. Good humour, joy and selfless service give rise to peace. God bless the Sisters of Our Lady of Sion, for their unfailing work for reconciliation and peace.
