Listen with the ear of the heart
Young people are often told to ‘put their listening ears on’ and it’s a good reminder as they often ‘hear’ what’s being said without actually listening carefully to what is being communicated, particularly when it comes to chores or classwork.
How often do adults listen but aren’t willing to accept what has been said? It might be out of disbelief, disagreement or distraction, but we often don’t want to hear what is being said.
Jesus encouraged people to listen with the ear of the heart. To understand God’s unfolding plan, it requires more than hearing words to truly comprehend the spiritual significance of daily life. Amid the static and myriad of other ‘stations’, we also need to tune in to what God is telling us today.
