Hosea 11:1-4, 8-9. Psalm 79(80):2-3, 15-16. Matthew 10:7-15.
Let us see your face, Lord, and we shall be saved—Psalm 79(80):2-3, 15-16.
‘They did not know that I was the one caring for them.’
How many times have we seen God’s face through the deeds of others – the kindness of a friend or the help of a family member? Jesus tells us to ‘give without payment.’ He challenges us to give of ourselves freely to others, to show God’s face to others. He also challenges us to bring peace and welcome to all.
How do we welcome people into our own homes? Of course, in today’s world, it is not possible to invite strangers into our homes.
Out of those we know, however, there is always the possibility to extend welcome to those too readily left out. Let us offer generous hospitality to others.
