Serve with open hearts

Jesus teaches us about God’s boundless generosity, challenging us to examine our own giving. Do we give freely, expecting nothing in return, or is our giving transactional, seeking recognition or benefit? Today, charity often feels commodified, with donors treated as consumers. Yet, those who give their time often encounter a deeper truth: service born from privilege can transform into humility when we see it not as sacrifice but as shared humanity. True service transcends a mere response to need, it becomes a meeting of equals, an exchange of dignity and grace. Jesus calls us to give as God does: freely, unconditionally, and without condescension. In serving with open hearts, we enter into authentic relationships, discovering God’s generosity mirrored in the faces of those we serve. This radical giving reveals that the true gift is not ours to offer but God’s to share through us.
