Hebrews 3:7-14. If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts – Psalm 94(95):6-11. Mark 1:40-45.
Keep encouraging one another
Friends once took part in a 100km charity walk. This walk itself was for teams of four and your team’s recorded finish time was only as fast as your slowest member. But such a long walk, over 20 hours or so, also relied on teams of support. There were those you trained with and then those who supported you during the walk by bringing food, dry socks and, most of all, encouragement.
And while we can do things alone for a little while, it can be easy to fall into bad habits or cut corners if there is no one there to notice us, to encourage us and to keep us on the right path. Today’s first reading asks that we keep encouraging one another, to pick each other up when we fall and to keep our eye firmly fixed on being co-heirs with Christ.
