About Today Readings

Jeremiah 7:23-28. If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts – Psalm 94(95):1-2, 6-9. Luke 11:14-23.

Listen to God’s voice

Today the psalmist asks us not to harden our hearts. There are many ways that can harden our hearts: thoughts against another person, not following the way of God, wasting our time on things not of God. We might harden our hearts through disbelief, fear or over preoccupation with life’s issues. How do we keep our hearts from hardening? The psalmist gives us a clue: by hearing God’s voice. God wants to communicate with us. Let us try to empty our minds and allow God to completely fill us, so that our hearts are softened to hear the echoes of God’s voice through all that we do today. To turn our hearts to God. To turn our hearts to kindness of family, friends, and neighbours.
