My yoke is easy, and my burden is light
There is an old story about your burden, dear Lord. It is said that you took someone who was complaining about the weight of the cross which you had sent him into a room full of crosses and told him to select one he liked. He picked the lightest – only to find that it was the very one about which he complained.
There is a lot to reflect on in this story. Those of us who are on the last leg of a long life know that you have never sent us a cross too heavy to bear because you have always been there to help us to carry it. Thank you, Lord.
